SQL Tech Lead

A Blog for All Things SQL

About

I started off my career as a software engineer and ventured into the area of big data when the term big data started to hit main stream in the industry. Since then, I’ve held several “data”-related roles: data warehouse developer, data analyst, business intelligence engineer. The current industry standard label for such a role these days is data engineer.

Over the course of my decades in the industry, new technologies/languages/frameworks have been introduced but one thing remains constant: all data investigation/analysis/wrangling starts with SQL. Very rarely will you need to hand data off to another language for nearly all practical investigations of data.

The aim of this blog is to share the tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years using SQL; from the simple to the complex. For the most part, I will take an ANSI-standard SQL approach but will call out any flavor-specific nuances where relevant.

In addition to the many SQL tips, tricks and lessons, I will occasionally talk about data engineering concepts, life in tech, and many other random topics.
